Chief Commissioner Of Central Excise Coimbatore Zone

Prior to re-organisation of Central Excise Commissionerates with effect from 1-11-2002, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Chennai Zone was having jurisdiction over the entire State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Pondicherry and part of Pariyaram Village of Mukundapuram taluk of Trichur District of the State of Kerala. This zone comprised of six Central Excise Commissionerates namely Ė Chennai I Chennai II Chennai III Madurai Trichy and Coimbatore. Consequent on re-organisation of Central Excise Commissionerates and Chief Commissionerís Zones, Coimbatore Chief Commissionerís Zone has been formed w.e.f. 1-11-2002 carving it out of the jurisdiction of the erstwhile Chennai Chief Commissionerís Zone. The jurisdictions of Chief Commissioners of Central Excise, Chennai Zone and Coimbatore Zone after re-organisation are as follows:
I. Chennai zone:
Central Excise Commissionerates of Chennai I, Chennai II, Chennai III, Chennai IV (New), Pondicherry (New). This Zone has jurisdiction over the following area: (a) STATE OF TAMIL NADU: Chennai Corporation, districts of Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Vellore, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Thiruvannamalai and part of Dharmapuri District (b) UNION TERRITORY OF PONDICHERRY: Entire Union Territory of Pondicherry except Mahe, Yanam, and Karaikal
II. Coimbatore zone:
Central Excise Commissionerates of Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem (New), and Tirunelveli (New). This Zone has jurisdiction over the following area: (a) STATE OF TAMIL NADU: Districts of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Thirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and part of Dharmapuri District (b) UNION TERRITORY OF PONDICHERRY: Karaikal Region (c) STATE OF KERALA: A part of Pariyaram Village of Mukundapuram taluk of Trichur District.
